TERROIR
Saint-Jacques de Siran takes its name from a chapel, dedicated to Santiago de Compostela, which still stands in the middle of a 9-hectare plot belonging to Château Siran, on the edge of its 24 hectares of Margaux vines. This adjacent, complex terroir produces rich, well-structured wines from clay soils formed by centuries of alluvial deposits from the Garonne River overlying the underlying gravel.
Carefully crafted by the Siran team, Saint-Jacques de Siran is a generous, fruity wine that is easy to enjoy every day.
KNOW-HOW
The Siran team favours working the soil, grassing and organic fertilisation. The vineyard is maintained like a garden with a policy of voluntary limitation of yields. No pesticides or herbicides are used. Siran is certified HVE (High Environmental Value).
The grapes are harvested at ideal maturity and sorted by hand. The wine is made in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, with gentle extraction by pumping over and prolonged maceration at 28-30º C, followed by a 10-12 days vatting period. The wine is aged in a mixture of oak barrels and vats.
WINE
Ideally served at 16 degrees, this classic Bordeaux has an intense colour due to its high proportion of Petit Verdot, the attack is on red fruits and notes of violet, the mid-palate is complex and balanced with spicy notes, the finish is generous with coated tannins.
TASTING NOTES
Regularly selected "Best Buy" by WINE ENTHUSIAST:
“A single-vineyard wine made by the winemaking team of Margaux estate Château Siran, this wine has structure, dense tannins and layer upon layer of black fruits.”
“Fresh fruits bring attractive spiciness as well as black-currant acidity to this wine. The structure and tannins balance the fruit.”
